Changepondsport – Indian face behind A1GP
First it was TCS and their IT support to Scuderia Ferrari F1 team. Then it was Pune based BPO who took on the contract of studying Renault’s 2005 season performance parameters. Now it is an Indian company who have found their way into A1.

Changepondsport has been in the business of supporting new media effort in terms of websites and associated components and building and implementing games management systems. For A1 GP, Changepondsport are running the website and the accreditation system.
The accreditation system has been licensed by A1 GP and also have entrusted operations both onsite and offsite to them. A blueprint was first asked to be developed, thereafter implementation was to be done via a solution which includes RFID tagging.

This accreditation system has worked well for the first two events while accrediting more than 15,000 people over the first two race weekends. On the website features and functionality are being constantly updated. This is being done by a team based out of India which operates on a 24/7 basis.

In addition to the front end support, back end support like hosting support, database services and also system administration are provided. One of the unique features developed for A1 has been the live streaming of the race in some countries where television coverage was not available.

This is quite a neat application of unobtrusive geo-targeting to ensure only people who log in from certain countries get to see the race in entirety. It has proved to be successful as traffic has increased ten-fold since Changepondsport took over.

A live event feature will shortly be built for the website where one can follow the race through a graphical interface. This is catered for people who cannot see the race on TV and will like to experience it without any interruption on the web.

Besides A1 GP Changepondsport also does work for FIFA. They are in the process of building IT support systems for the 2006 World Cup.With so much at hand, one can be rest assured that the back end and IT support of A1 is in good hands and also goes to show that Indians are not only storming the race tracks but are also part of the racing community support structure.
